Some of my favorites, from this beautiful August, backyard wedding in Hillsboro, Oregon.
Beast Mode Meals is a meal prep service for athletes. David Rico, a student at 10th Planet Portland, and a chef, saw the need for this type of service to help busy athletes stay on course. His meals are a healthy balance of proteins, vegetables, and carbs designed for an easy, healthy, meal on the go.
I was asked to design a logo, that felt both portland and fierce. The “keeping it weird” beast that inspired me, was the PNW native, big foot.
In my first version, I gave big foot a fork and knife, and kept him classy with a monogrammed bib. This included a separate word mark for use on food labeling.
In my final edition I cleaned everything up by losing the bib. I was sad to see it go, but this edit allowed us to use the logo at a much smaller size, and still maintain it’s readability. Overall the look is much cleaner.
In addition to the logo, I gave David a head start on his social media. I started by taking several photographs of his meals, creating graphics for his profile photo and banner, and making a few advertisements / Posts. I also created some gift certificates.
Taking photographs of your employees in formal settings is indeed a clean and professional way to handle corporate head shots. I do alot of these.
However, if you want to show your customers the personality of those you employee, if you really want to convey the feel of the business, sometimes is good to take a more unconventional approach. Photographing the person in their workspace can make create a new level of comfort and new more relaxed expressions.
This is Lauren. A photographer at Kuni BMW, she runs up and down these rows of cars daily, bring them in the studio for product shots. She’s holding cotton candy from that nights customer appreciation wine event. Down stairs is bustling with customers, live music and BMWs.
This is the Kuni BMW Service tech crew. These fine fellows send their days here in the shop surrounded by bustling noise repairing and certifying BMWS.
This is the Kuni Automotive Operations team. While they work in an office space daily:
There are still luxury cars in the office. They are silly and know how to make the everyday moments fun.
This is Michael Kuni. He takes his job very seriously. His family owns Kuni Automotive. While he is very serious about his job, he is even more serious about his sports teams. You can see his Sehawks jersey poking through.
The biggest goofball in the video department of Kuni BMW is John. While he prefers to be on the OTHER side of the camera, you can get him to pose for a lighting check and trick him into getting his headshot.
This is the receptionist at Kuni BMW, Karen.While she will argue with you for days, on if the photo you took of her is flattering enough.. she will let you take silly pictures for hours with no complaint.

The Kuni Automotive Technicians Guild was founded to recognize exceptional technicians who are in the mechanical and collision repair departments of Kuni Automotive.
I was asked to create a logo for the guild, and make patches for the guild of each state.
